Do Justice Book Study

The next book we will be discussing is How Ableism Fuels Racism by Lamar Hardwick. This is one of the books we have received through the Vital Worship grant.

“As a Black autistic pastor and disability scholar, Lamar Hardwick lives at the intersection of disability, race, and religion. In How Ableism Fuels Racism, he helps Christian communities engage in critical conversations about race by addressing issues of ableism….He calls [on] the church to address deep-seated issues of ableism and offers practical steps for dismantling ableism and racism in attitude and practice.”

We will meet at the church on the four Sundays in September following Labor Day weekend and the first Sunday in October (Sept 8, Sept 15, Sept 22, Sept 29, Oct 8). We plan to meet at 12 noon at the church, eat a light lunch together, then discuss our book, finishing up no later than 1:30 pm. If you are one of our online friends and would like to join the discussion, please let me know so we can get everything set up to have an in-person and Zoom meeting at the same time.

We will also have spark notes for each chapter to help lighten the reading load.
